Balatro is a game with a lot of unlockable contents, which can take over 200 hours of gameplay to fully unlock. This test is "only" covered about 70 hours. The main goal is to assess the state of the build on the cartridge after the extended hours of casual play. This report is done after what the tester considers a play experience representative of how most people will play the game.
Played 70 hours, alternating between docked and handheld, with various play session length, from 5 minutes to 3 hours.
Played with all decks at least once.
Attempted every challenge at least once.
Completed several runs on gold stake difficulty (highest difficulty) with the Ghost Deck.
Tried to unlock as many items as possible.
Played mostly with a controller, with some spot check for the touch controls.
Free DLC "Friends of Jimbo" isn't on the cartridge, but is included as a free update.
No crashes experienced.
Game mechanics fonction as intended, no bug or issues except what is indicated below.
Turning on sleep mode when having a card selected in your hand would sometime cause the selected card to become giant and stretched when resuming the game. Selecting another card fixes the issue.
Turning on sleep mode would sometime cause the chip requirement for the blind to turn invisible when resuming the game. While it doesn't affect gameplay, it requires the player to have memorized the chip requirement. The only way to restore the chip requirement is to beat the blind or start a new run. Rebooting the game doesn't fix the issue.
During the challenges, the game modifiers will interact with your jokers as a "Boss blind", causing your jokers to be triggered more often. (Ex: Matador) This is a beneficial bug.
During one run, with over 10 special edition jokers (foil, negative, etc.), there was a slight lag (a fraction of a second) when navigating the game. This issue happened in less than 1% of all the total runs.
