This game is fully playable from the cartridge. You can achieve 100% completion, but there is a caveat.
The game was created by one person, so take that into full consideration for this test.
It is lacking quite a bit of polish.
Some issues encountered were pop ins, shadow flickering, animation issues, software errors,
In addition, there is a bug which prevents you from being able to obtain 2 pocket watches (this game’s collectibles). It *could* have prevented 100% completion, but there is a work around.
The error occurs on the second to last boss fight in the ice world (Iceceratops Area) . Within this boss level, there are a total of 70 pocket watches, of which we were able to obtain 68. The 2 missing don’t seem to appear at all.
This also prevents you from unlocking the secret level needed for 100% completion.
Thankyfully, there is a level called “Hare Today, Gong Tomorrow,” which has its own bug which could be exploited. This level has a total of 900 pocket watches, but once the level is completed, the player can re-enter the level, and find an extra 4 watches.
Once done with the secret level, you are able to complete the game 100%, by having 10,002 pocket watches out of 10,000 (the extra two coming from the work around) and 115 out of 115 medals. All this worked without having to download the patch.
Encountered animation issues, as the game doesn’t render certain movements when it should. For example, sometimes the character remains in a jumping animation for a few seconds after landing on the ground. Sometimes when the character is running, instead of walking, the animation continues walking for a few seconds when it should be running, etc. This happens quite frequently.
The game doesn’t do proper transitions from cutscenes to loading screens to gameplay. It just abruptly cuts from a cutscene to a loading screen without a proper transition.
When racing the turtle in the level “The Chimp, the Bag, and the Bunny”, the turtle beat us the first time. When trying to restart the mission, pressing X to activate it had no effect. Leaving the area and returning made it worked again.
Sometimes during an attempted double jump the game didn’t register the double jump, and would instead do a single jump, despite pressing the button twice.
Also experienced several crashes. Twice while closing the game. Once when we tried to manually save the game. Thankfully, the game auto saves and we didn’t lose any progress due to these software errors.
Framerate was steady
