Version 1.0.0. At the time of testing (Jan 2024), there is a patch to version 1.0.1. This test was done without said patch.

Completed both the “Enhanced” version of this game and the “Original” version of the game.

Enhanced mode is the rebuilt from the ground up version of Gargoyles.
The game can be played with the new remastered visuals or the player can toggle to the retro visuals at any time.
If the player is playing with the retro graphics, once a static cutscene appears, the retro graphics will disappear, and the game will be presented with the remastered visuals. The game will not return to the retro visuals until the player has toggled them back.

Save states and rewinds are offered to the player in this version of the game.
Noticed no major issues during the playthrough in Enhanced mode.

With original mode, this appears to be the entire rom of the original game. Everything, from the static cutscenes, the gameplay, credits, etc is presented like it would have been on a Sega Genesis.
Note that there are no filters of any kind or custom borders.
The game will have two black borders on either side of the screen.
There is also no save state feature here. Rewind is available though.

Unfortunately, we encountered a concerning bug here. In the 3rd section of the first level, there appears to be an issue that arises that causes the entire game to reset to the beginning title screen, and this happens abruptly and without warning. This occurred on 3 different occasions.
Rewinds do not help here, as once the game is reset to the beginning title screen, the rewind will not go back to anything prior to the main menu. We were able to complete the game on “original” mode, so the game isn’t completely broken, but it’s definitely an issue, and we cannot figure out what triggers this to happen. This does not happen on the “enhanced” version of the game. We tried to replicate the issue there and it never occurred.

Difficulty options: Easy, Medium and Hard for Enhanced mode. Easy, Normal and Hard for Original mode.

Accessibility options: Rewind and Save features are offered for the “Enhanced” version of the game. Rewinds only are offered for the “Original” version of the game.

Languages: English.

No DRM. Played mostly in handheld mode for this test. Although, we did test the game docked as well, and it performed similarly.
