Tested by Nintendo Revised on Switch OLED
Version 1.0.0 on cart. A patch is available to version 1.0.1. at the time of testing (March 2024).
Only Legend Mode was completed during this test, which is essentially the story mode.
Within said Legend Mode, every single scenario was completed on Normal difficulty. Most levels were done co-op, with only a few scenarios done in single player. Some of these scenarios were added to Legend Mode as DLC in previous releases/ports of the game.
Noticed stuttering consistently during cutscenes while camera is panning. The stutters happen pretty frequently during these moments. Thankfully, it only occurred during moments when the camera was panning from one spot to another, otherwise, the cutscenes played out pretty well.
Also noticed pop-in during some cutscenes. Some objects popping in after the cutscene had loaded in. This also occurs during gameplay, although it’s not as noticeable here since the game is constantly chaotic, and there isn’t much room to just stop and take in the environments.
Another issue is enemies going through walls. This mainly occurred when fighting a massive boss within a small confined room. This could sometimes cause a boss to go through a wall, and be only partially visible. The game did fix this issue rather quickly when it occurred. This issue has no effect on gameplay.
As far as the gameplay is concerned, everything is rock solid here. The game seems to be running at a consistent frame rate, and we only noticed two minor slow downs during the entire playthrough. The game runs extremely well even with the constant barrage of enemies. This applies to both coop and single player mode.
As far as the DLC for Hyrule Warriors, we did get to access some DLC during testing.
To clarify again, for this test, only Legend Mode was tested. Some DLC is locked behind beating other modes (such as Adventure Mode and Challenge Mode), and at this time, these other modes were not tested. The parts of the DLC we encountered during the test:
*Cia’s Tale in Legend Mode
*Cia, Volga, and Wizzro unlocked as playable characters
*Boss Challenge unlocked
*Ganon’s Fury unlocked
*Linkle’s Story in Legend Mode
*Epilogue based on the Wind Waker in Legend Mode
*Breath of the Wild costumes for Link and Zelda
A few levels were also tested for Adventure Mode and Free Mode, and both worked as expected. Also tested one level for Ganon’s Fury under the Challenge Mode, and it also worked as expected.
Difficulty options: Easy, Normal, and Hard. Hero difficulty is unlocked after beating Legend Mode.
Accessibility options: None
Languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spain Spanish, Latin American Spanish, and Canadian French.
No DRM. Played mostly docked while playing coop. Played handheld mode for single player.
