Version 1.000.000 on disc. The game displays Bedrock version 1.21.2 in the menu.
Includes a PSN Voucher Code for 3500 Tokens which are the game’s premium currency used to purchase mods in the marketplace. This release does not include any Skins, Texture Packs, or Mash-Up Packs.
This PS5 version is based on the Bedrock Edition of the game and does not include the Legacy Console Edition. The PS5 version runs at 4K 60fps with a maximum render distance of 36 chunks. While there is an option to uncap the framerate, the actual refresh rate never goes higher than 60hz.
Transferring worlds from the PS4 version is possible offline, tested using a world from the previous PS4 PSVR disc build. Trophies do not carry over between versions, but a few may auto pop depending on what items you have in your inventory.
The Dressing Room does not work offline, meaning it is not possible to change your skin offline. Your skin defaults to either Steve or Alex when you boot the game for the first time. The new Seed Templates feature also doesn’t work offline.
The game can be played offline either Solo or with up to 4 players in split screen. If at least two split screen players join the game with the same skin, the game will automatically change one player’s skin to something random.
All players in split screen can earn trophies but each player is independent and will have to meet the trophy requirements individually.
If you are playing online, you will need to link a Microsoft account if you want to play cross platform multiplayer, but not if you are playing with players on the same platform. At the time of testing, (10/22/23) the update is not required to access online features, but playing multiplayer or on servers wasn’t tested.
Issues encountered:
⁃ By default the game uses a GUI scale of -2, but the menu shows that it is set to 0. Changing this option (or changing split screen orientation) causes the game to correct itself. (Still present as of update 1.006.00)
⁃ When playing split screen, certain actions (such as opening a menu or changing camera perspectives) causes the reticle to start flickering (Still present as of update 1.006.000)
⁃ Simulation distance is only set to 4 chunks by default instead of 10 chunks like it is in other versions. This can cause things like mobs to only spawn very close to the player. This can be changed in the settings for a world. (Still present as of update 1.006.000)
⁃ Looking straight up while mining something can cause the texture that shows mining progress to disappear (Still present as of update 1.006.000)
⁃ If you are playing offline on a profile with a PSN account attached to it, your player name will show up as just “Player” in the main menu and you will not be able to access the settings menu until you go in game. This issue does not happen on a fully local profile (Still present as of update 1.006.000)
⁃ There are some minor frame rate drops when the game is performing CPU related tasks like generating chunks or autosaving. (As of update 1.006.000, the frame rate does seem to drop less frequently but the issue is still present)
