Version 1.0.0 on cart.
There should be 15 levels + two additional levels available for those that 100% each of the 15 levels, so a total of 17 levels. However, only 5 of those are available on cart!
The levels being: “The Raid on Monsaic,” “The Ruins,” “The Blimp,” “The Funicular,” and “Sorrow Valley”. In order to complete the game, a patch is required. Currently (March 2024), there is a patch available to version 1.1.3 of 5.0 GBs and that is to download the rest of the game and maybe some additional patches.
Completed 4 levels at 100% and the 5th level (The Blimp) was completed at 99% because we were unable to complete one mission. The mission requires the player to not kill any of the enemies and instead apprehend them. 23 enemies appear in this level. We were only able to apprehend 22 enemies out of 23. The last enemy would only appear once, and whenever we died for any reason, this enemy would not reappear even when reloading a checkpoint. Which meant we had to start the entire level back over. What makes this enemy particularly frustrating, is that it appears toward the end of the level. The level can take upwards of 20-30 minutes to complete. Just one mistake can cause the enemy to disappear and it will not reappear no matter how many times you reload the checkpoint.
Loading time is pretty lengthy when starting up the game, though once the game gets going, the load times are not too bad.
The game performs fairly well. Frame rate issues occurred during segements that had a lot of things are going on, such as tons of enemies on screen, explosions, etc.
There are some minor stutters that occur from time to time as well, mainly when reaching a check point or when there is a transition happening on screen.
Ultimately, the game performed mostly fine. Out of all 5 levels tested, the second level is the one that suffered the most frame rate issues.
There is noticeable pop in during gameplay. Cutscenes don’t seem to suffer from this issue, as it appears that cutscenes are being rendered as videos, instead of using an in-game engine.
Speaking of cutscenes, we did notice that audio for cutscenes was really low compared to in game audio. We had to raise the volume all the way to the max to be able to hear the cutscenes. When starting a level, we would have to reduce the audio again. There is an audio balancing issue here.
Sometimes, the audio would cut in and out during an explosion sequence. This was quite noticeable in several occasions.
After finishing a level, an alert comes up to turn off airplane mode. It appears the game is trying to upload stats to the leaderboards. This can be bypassed to continue to the next level.
