Version 1.0.2 on cart (without patch). Version 1.0.3 patch notes indicate “corrects an issue that was causing the end credits to not play properly”.
Immediately when loading the game, you are met with the main menu and the “end credits” are available from the start. But if you click on this option, nothing will load and it will just remain on the menu. Everything else works as intended within the menus except for the “end credits” option.
First you need to know that this game has a game within a game. The game is the original game emulated for new platforms, but it’s presented as the River City Girls finding their original video game and them putting into a console to play it. We explain this because the end credits do work within the perimeters of the original game, albeit in Japanese.
After completing the game and watching the Japanese end credits, you come back and see a cutscene of the girls expressing their feelings about their original video game. Once this cutscene plays, the game abruptly returns you to the main menu. This is where the end credits from the LRG build of the game should play, but they do not.
Other than the end credits issue, the game plays just fine and just as intended. All cutscenes and menus work properly. 0 issues with the build on the cart. Unless end credits for this build of the game are important to you, the 1.3 GB patch is unnecessary to download.
