Version 7.2.0 and Expansion Pass DLC included on cart. English included on cart.

Fully offline modes and features:
- Story Mode
- Recon Mode
- The Shoal (Local Wireless Multiplayer & Salmon Run)
- Inkopolis Plaza (DLC)
- Side Order Expansion (DLC)

Story Mode:
Entire story mode is playable offline. All progress in story mode works offline however some of the rewards you can earn are only for the Multiplayer mode and require you to go to the online lobby to claim them. Rewards that are used in the story mode can be used offline.

Multiplayer:
PVP multiplayer can be played offline via Local Wireless or LAN by going into the Shoal building. Only the initial 12 launch day maps can be played without connecting to the internet first, and all progression is disabled offline so you will be stuck with the Splattershot Jr. and default gear unless you play online and unlock more gear first. Recon Mode is also available offline allowing you to explore the maps in single player but there isn’t much to do other than explore.

Salmon Run:
Salmon Run can be played offline via Local Wireless or LAN by going into the Shoal building. Only the initial 3 launch day maps can be played without connecting to the internet first. All weapons are available from the start and will be randomly chosen at the start of each round by default. It does not seem to be possible for Xtrawaves to spawn when playing offline as they normally require players to fill a Salmometer to get a chance for it to spawn, but the Salmometer is not present when playing offline.

Side Order DLC:
Entire Side Order expansion is playable offline. Some of the rewards you can earn are for the Multiplayer and require you to go to the online lobby to claim, but other rewards are for use in Side Order and can be used offline. After you finish the game a vendor appears that sells items that are exclusively for Multiplayer. While you can buy those items offline you must go to the online lobby to claim them. Inkopolis Plaza from Wave 1 of the expansion pass is also included on cart.

Other notes:
- To play Multiplayer over a LAN connection instead of Local Wireless, hold the ZL + ZR buttons at the same time while in the Shoal, then click in and hold the Left Stick to activate LAN mode. LAN play is pretty much the same as Local Wireless except you use a wired connection instead of wireless.
- Tableturf Battles require you to reach level 4 in online multiplayer before you can access the mode (even in the Shoal) making it impossible to access without connecting to the internet at least once and playing online.
- amiibos will send any gear they give you to the online lobby so you have to go online to claim them.
- All shops require internet to access, regardless of your level. Gear purchased from the shops or claimed in the online lobby can be used offline afterwards.
- The mailbox for drawing can only be used while online, unlike in Splatoon 2

No noticeable bugs or performance issues were encountered during testing.

Note that for Local Wireless & LAN Play, every player must be using the same version of the game in order to join. You can use the “Match Version With Local Users” feature in the home screen to transfer update files to other Switch consoles using Local Wireless.
