Completed the Main Campaign on NORMAL difficulty and finished all side quests except 2. Played without guide, so likely missed a fair amount of hidden side quests.
Overall game plays well with some minor issues.
- The most notable issue is a lack of polish with UI elements. Text boxes and cutscenes often stay on screen a bit longer after a story segment ends. When starting a battle, there is also an extra character slot in the turn order list that disappears once the combat starts. These issues are annoying to look at but don't affect the gameplay much.
- On a few instances game menus became jittery, resetting the game fixed it.
- On one occasion a character got stuck in a casting animation during a boss fight. That character was unusable for the remainder of the battle. However we still ended up beating the boss. It did not happen again. Wasn't a huge problem, but could be slightly annoying playing on harder difficulty (if it happens).
- Game has a lot of QoL features that aren't present on the PS4 version of the game. Not all features are on cart, but a lot of the crucial ones are.
- The following settings are on cart: The fast forward game option, replay past conversations option, and graphical updates are on cart. As well as character glow graphical options. Choice of how encounters trigger, fading animations on map, skip intro movie feature and adjust UI scale size.
- The following settings in Trails from Zero however can only be accessed via post launch patches: Anti-aliasing graphical option, dynamic shadows, water shader, option to show BGM music info as it plays and auto-text advance.
- The Fast-Speed feature is on cart and is extremely helpful, but has the trade off of occasional frame drops, which we felt was a fair sacrifice.
- No crashes
- Lastly this game has only Japanese voice acting but has English subs.
