• Runs at 30 FPS by default.
• Bonus content (behind-the-scenes documentaries and making-of videos) available on the disc. Some new ones were added about the remake, but some of the old ones were also removed.
• The bonus scene with Matt and Emily, which was only available as a pre-order bonus in the original and which was missing from the PS4 disc version, is now included in the remake.
• Some cinematics can be skipped in the remake.
• Episode select, which becomes available after completing a playthrough, keeps all collectibles.
• The game needs to be installed and played entirely offline to play it unpatched. When installing the game while online, the patch is mixed in directly with the disc installation, unlike other PS5 disc games, which list the patch as a separate download from the disc installation. Connecting online even briefly will force the patch on the disc version, even if the player then disconnects from the Internet. Then, when trying to play the unpatched version offline, the player will simply be met with an unskippable update screen.
• Some cases of subtitles not being perfectly synced with spoken dialogue.
• FPS drops noticed in a few very rare situations, such as when playing as Mike at the beginning of Chapter 3.
• Very rare cases of animated speech not being perfectly synced with the dialogue.
• Experienced two crashes throughout the whole playthrough.
• Sometimes, when rotating certain interactible objects, pushing O to put the object down won’t work unless the objects are the angle at which they were picked up.
• Dualsense haptic feedback can mess with the controller’s motion sensor during the “Don’t move” sequences, particularly in the final scene of the game, but fortunately, these sequences are much more forgiving than in the original, so it wasn’t a big issue in our playthrough. However, should it prove to be a problem, make sure to turn off controller vibration in the settings.
• Listening to “The Events of the Past” video while playing the game tends to be very glitchy as its music replaces the in-game sounds and dialogue. This caused a game-breaking issue in Chapter 3, when playing as Mike, where all dialogue was muted, and a cutscene didn’t trigger at all, making it impossible to progress and causing the tester to restart the playthrough from scratch. To avoid such issues, it is highly recommended to only play “The Events of the Past” within the main menu.
• In Chapter 5, when Matt and Emily reach the cable car station, it is brightly lit. However, the tester had to leave the game at this point and when restarting it, the scene was very dark instead.
• In Chapter 7, when finding the head in the mines, there is no “Secret found” notification. However, the clue is collected automatically in the remake, so this was not an issue.
• In Chapter 9, after watching, exiting, and then re-entering the secret video with the miner, the sound from the video play constantly in a loop, even in the main menu. A game restart was required.
• When replaying Loss Totem #6, its sound gets interrupted. Pressing “back” and replaying it from the totem menu fixes this.
All attempted trophies unlocked properly.
Overall a relatively solid disc build, with mostly minor issues.
